A fan page is the gateway to your business profile. By default when someone visits your page they are taken to your wall which is simply a news stream of posts submitted by you and your friends or fans.

A fan page however is a page of information, images, video, links what ever you want it to be. Much like a page for a website.

The purpose of the fan page is to attract more fans to your face book profile. The image to the left is the standard wall and the image on the right is a fan page.
